On Thursday June 24th (2010/06/24) between 02:05 and 5:05 (A.M.) our payment gateway provider will be down for maintenance. Credit card transactions will not work at this time.
Power outage at Scotia Place caused all the servers to reboot late last night. Some servers did not come back online right away and were manually restarted. Everything is up and running now. This outage was out of the control of our staff. There is another one planned tomorrow night as well, and the backup generator and UPS should properly handle the outage this time.
Mail server upgrade transfer took longer than anticipated, so the server was offline for a longer time. Sorry for any inconveniences.
Mail server will be down for about 10 minutes on 2010/03/15 for an upgrade.
An anti-spam process has been identified as being corrupted. We will be recreating the corrupted file in question, and this will take up to an hour. During this time, the email system may bounce email addresses. We hope to complete this during business hours with no interruption, or else this evening sometime.
We identified a partition that filled up at 4:00 this morning as the cause for some slower than normal performance. The partition has been emptied and we will be assessing invoices for people who are over their quota to reduce the amount of space used by clients. We will also be increasing the size of that partition on the mail server.
We reduced the load on the server by killing some unrelated backup processes. Everything is very fast now. We are putting off replacing the RAID drive until friday as it is not completely dead - just some minor drive errors.
We rebooted the system to improve performance. If checking your email is not crucial, please wait until tomorrow as we will be replacing a potentially bad hard drive later today. We are contacting Dell support this morning
RAM was installed yesterday between 18:00 and 18:29. 8x the RAM has been allocated to the mail server today at 13:15. We are already seeing massive performance improvements.
New RAM has arrived. This server will be rebotted between 14:00 and 16:00 this afternoon to put in the RAM.
We have reverted back to the old version of Courier-imap and rebooted the server. Looks like the patch does not work as well as it should. Any POP mailbox type clients: DO NOT KEEP ANY MAIL ON THE SERVER!. If you want to keep email on the server, use IMAP mailboxes. We have placed an order to DELL to increase the RAM in the mail server and that should permanently fix the problem.
We are ordering more RAM from Dell.

OK the big box in the forwarding fields works and the "Fwd2" does not work.
The webmail manager has had some upgrades. Some functions work. Adding new email addresses to aliases or existing accounts may have issues.
Still debugging and fixing the Manager, php 4.0.4 and php 4.3.9 are massively different. Glad I don't own facebook (it is all written in php too) ;). Please continue to send new mailbox requests to us via email.

We doubled the RAM in this mail server last night and that seems to be making a difference.
We are ordering a massive new DELL server. This should increase our volumes and efficiency of the mail server.
We are still having issues with the zedemail manager: if you have a request for a new username, new password, new alias, or new forwarding, please send an email with your domain name in the subject, and in the body of the email, include one or more of the following commands:
vadduser <username>/<password>
vpasswd <username>/<password>
vaddalias <username>/<forwarding-email> [second forwarding email] ... etc. to add an alias
vchforwards <username>/<forwarding-email> [second forwarding email] ... etc. - to change the forwarding email address(es)

Note that the new mail account, alias and mail forwarding of email accounts in the manager has some upgrade issues and we will be working on that after the new webmail is up.

Allowing more incoming pop connections. High loads right now. You can also increase your server timeouts on your mail account to 120 seconds or 2 minutes.
Blackberry email clients: do not have more than 2 months of email on your imap inbox with us. You can create sub accounts such as 'oldmail' and transfer old email to that if you want to.
Blackberry email clients are having issues since last week due to upgrades on blackberry and telus networks. Our trouble ticket with Telus is 6106577.
WEBMAIL will not be up until Tuesday at the earliest. Horde is obsolete.
Outlook really does stupid things. When you cancel a download of your email (for example due to high loads on Thursday morning) Outlook moves everything to the "current" folder (cur) and then it will not download it again. We really urge people to use a better email client such as Thunderbird. It is free. If you see nothing in your inbox, please email us with your domain name in the subject and the words "recover my email" in the body of the email.
POP accounts should be fine now and can run faster. This reduces the disk space on our servers and saves you money on email upgrades.
webmail manager should work fine now. You may need to email us for a password. Just put the domain name in the subject and state that you want the zedemail manager password reset in the body of the email. send to support *at* domainsunder.ca
Patch installed. The performance should be much better for POP email accounts now. We will now work on the omailAdmin email manager.
We found a patch for courier-imap to speed up pop email downloads. We will recompile and install this ASAP.
We also recommend that you use IMAP when creating your new account on Thunderbird. If you do this, please close your outlook to reduce the stress on the server.
outlook is a really crappy peice of software. If you want something more reliable: reclaim your inbox.
The mail server has been running perfectly since 15:30 yesterday. You mail is in your mailboxes. The problem at hand now is that users on the system are aggressively checking their email and it is bringing the pop3 and imap processes to their knees. Please set your mail checking to once every half hour in outlook or whatever mail client you are using! Thanks .
We have successfully sent and received an email from yahoo within a minute or two. Old emails from the past few days may take several days to reach us with the oldest ones begin the slowest to retry.
all open mail should be coming in now. Everything looks good. Webmail and manager will be down for the next few days to allow for upgrade to the new version of php.

everything is open and running: not sure what is happening. Possibly a denial of service attack as there are several IP's from asia and eastern europe trying to send mail: could just be spammers. Main mail service is still bogged down.
smtp works until we open up the outside world and then it gets bogged down. At this point we must manage the volume of email that wants to come in.

We have resolved the authintication issue, and are now working on the zedemail manager functionality.
We have had a very unlikely multiple harddrive and server crash over the week-end and we are working furiously to fix the email server and restore it to a backup made on September 8th, 2008. The Email should be coming in, however the password checking facility needed to be upgraded during the rebuild and we are having issue with that.

This is the first time our server has unexpectedly crashed since 2002.
